EDOTCO Bangladesh, which describes itself as the country’s leading integrated telecommunications infrastructure provider, has launched its newly modernised 5G-ready tower operation centre (TOC) in Dhaka.
This state-of-the-art facility, says EDOTCO, serves as a real-time monitoring hub, enabling seamless management of telecom towers nationwide with enhanced operational efficiency, connectivity, and energy optimisation.
The TOC inauguration was officiated by the High Commissioner of Malaysia, the Country Managing Director of EDOTCO Bangladesh and Major General Md Emdad ul Bari, Chairman, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), who said: “In today’s rapidly evolving digital era, connectivity remains a cornerstone of socio-economic development. While the ongoing expansion of connectivity is crucial, fostering an ecosystem that supports modern, technology-driven operational facilities is equally significant. This aligns with the broader vision of building a sustainable and resilient telecom infrastructure in Bangladesh."
EDOTCO Bangladesh, a subsidiary of Malaysia-based EDOTCO Group, says it integrates sustainability into its operations with innovations like bamboo towers and hybrid solar-wind solutions.
This isn’t the only recent infrastructure announcement from the company. Indeed EDOTCO Bangladesh and operator Grameenphone recently announced that they had surpassed 6,000 tenancies in a collaboration that they said has consistently strengthened the nation's digital infrastructure, bringing reliable connectivity to millions of people.
The collaboration began in 2015. A pivotal moment came in 2020 with the deployment of base transceiver station (BTS) sites, ensuring reliable network coverage even in underserved areas. The companies recently announced a multi-year leasing extension agreement.
EDOTCO has a portfolio of over 55,000 towers across nine countries.
