U Mobile says it has signed on OCK Telco Infra – a subsidiary of Malaysian telecoms network solutions provider and regional towerco OCK Group – as its latest preferred 5G in-building coverage infrastructure partner for its nationwide 5G rollout.

Under a MoU revealed on Wednesday, U Mobile will leverage OCK’s expertise to accelerate its 5G in-building deployments with customised solutions tailored to the unique needs of each site. Mobile and OCK said they aim to deliver a fast and cost-effective deployment through a commercially competitive arrangement.

The two companies will also jointly explore next-gen in-building innovations, such as solutions that integrate AI, IoT, smart cities, and autonomous systems.

U Mobile CTO Woon Ooi Yuen said the partnership with OCK further enables the telco to roll out Malaysia’s second 5G network and meet its target of 80% coverage of populated areas by July 2026, while laying the foundation for broader 5G innovation and adoption.

OCK is the second tower company U Mobile has tapped as a preferred 5G in-building coverage partner. U Mobile signed a similar MoU with EdgePoint Infrastructure in April 2025.

Last month, U Mobile appointed Telekom Malaysia as a fibre backhaul partner for its 5G rollout in a deal valued at MYR2.4billion (almost US$570 million) over the next ten years.
