Brazilian operator TIM and Brazilian tracking company BWS IoT have signed a strategic partnership to boost the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem in the corporate sector by provide connectivity to 400,000 tracking devices in Brazil via 4G chips in the next three years.
The collaboration brings together TIM's NB-IoT (narrowband IoT) infrastructure with BWS IoT's expertise in monitoring and automation platforms, enabling hybrid connectivity in real-time asset tracking and management.
With more than 2.5 million devices on the market, 3,000 customers and 250 platforms integrated into the BWS IoT protocol, BWS IoT describes itself as the fastest-growing tracking company in Brazil.
This aim of this partnership is to offer greater operational efficiency, safety and competitiveness for companies of various sizes, such as automakers, insurers and car rental companies.
Indeed, news resource Teletime quotes the partners as saying that the offering will strengthen the digitisation of companies, optimise fleet management and boost the IoT market in Brazil, which is growing rapidly, with the electronic security sector in particular said to be worth more than BRL14 billion (about US$2.5 billion) in the last year.
The joint solution, which ranges from customised projects to plug-and-play offers, is now available throughout the country.
BWS IoT is said to be planning to expand the range of its NB2 technologies (NB2 is 3GPP’s enhanced NB-IoT protocol) offering more performance, lower cost and flexibility in customised solutions.
TIM Brasil is actively expanding its presence in the IoT market, focusing on solutions for various industries, including agriculture, smart cities and Industry 4.0.
