CWC Launches First LTE Service In Cayman Islands

Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC) has become the first operator to launch Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile data services in the Cayman Islands.

The new service is the latest benefit from a programme of network upgrades across CWC’s Caribbean business LIME to reinforce its position as the leading data provider in the region.

LIME’s LTE mobile data network, which was installed by Ericsson, provides 100% coverage across the Cayman Islands and is capable of download speeds of over 100 megabits per second (mbps).

Bill McCabe, Chief Executive Officer of LIME Cayman Islands, said: “The launch of LTE in the Cayman Islands marks the islands out as one of the best connected and best served countries not just in the region but anywhere in the world.”

CWC is the leading provider of mobile, broadband and fixed line services in the Cayman Islands. The company is also in the process of rolling out high speed fibre broadband services across the country, which is one of the highest GDP per capita markets in the Caribbean.
