Saudi Arabian operator Mobily, part of the Etihad Etisalat Company, is upgrading its network connectivity with Nokia Solutions and Networks.
The vendor’s Single RAN (radio access network) and comprehensive services will enable enhanced voice and data services.
NSN will upgrade Mobily’s 2G, 3G (WCDMA) and TD-LTE networks in the central region including Riyadh, the largest city in the country. The operator is undertaking major network upgrades and expansions, including refarming of the GSM 900 MHz band to 3G.
“Since our customer base as well as the adoption of smart devices and demand for high speed data services are steadily increasing, we are committed to upgrading and expanding our networks with the latest technology available in the industry,” said Alaa Al Malki, Acting CTO, Mobily Radio Network.
“Upgrading and expanding the networks is vital for Mobily’s growth, but doing so cost-efficiently is equally important,” said Muawieh Abdel Rahman, head of Mobily KSA customer team at NSN.
