Tajikistan’s ZET-Mobile has completed a large-scale expansion of its LTE network.
The operator announced that during December 2019, it began operating base stations in the 800MHz and 2100MHz bands across 20 new regions in the country.
Previously operating as Veon, the operator rebranded in June last year after it was sold to local firm ZET Mobile a year prior. ZET Mobile is believed to be owned by Hasan Asadullozoda, who is the brother-in-law of Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon.
General director Mahshulov Parviz said: “ZET-Mobile plans in 2020 to continue to modernise the backbone network and the radio access network, as well as launch the first segment of the fifth generation network in Tajikistan, thereby ensuring the availability of the latest communication technologies to the citizens of our country.”
