The government of Croatia is pushing for a 5G launch in the country’s fourth-largest city, Osijek, by the end of the year.
Launching services within this timeframe will place Croatia in accordance with the EU’s 5G Action Plan, which was issued in 2016.
The country’s three major mobile operators have lauded the push for 5G, with Hrvatski Telekom (HT) stating that it has already installed eight 5G base stations to trial the service in Osijek.
Rival operator Tele2 has advised regulator HAKOM (Croatian Postal & Electronic Communications Agency) to issue 5G spectrum in H2 2020 to encourage swift adoption of the technology.
