ETECSA confirms broadband expansion plans for 2021

Cuba’s state-run operator ETECSA (Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Cuba) has affirmed its goal of delivering fixed, wireless or mobile broadband to all districts in the Havana province before the end of 2021.

As reported by local news outlet Agencia Cubana de Noticias (ACN), ETECSA’s head of marketing Iris Duran Fonseca confirmed that 96 of the province’s 105 districts were already connected to the Nauta Hogar ADSL home broadband service.

TeleGeography notes that this service launched in March 2017. Fonseca committed to connecting the remaining districts soon, with ETECSA also detailing plans to extend its fixed telephony network to the Boyeros, Cotorro and San Miguel de Padron municipalities.
