Telekom Srbija is acquiring ISP Posta NET from Post Srbije, a Serbian postal service provider.
In a statement, Post Srbije said: “in accordance with plans for improving the quality of its core business, Poste Srbije has made a decision to cease operations in the field of cable telecommunications”.
Accordingly, an official from the company stated: “[Telekom Srbija] took possession of electronic communications equipment used to deliver Posta NET internet and cable TV services.”
Local news outlet N1 reported that the contract was signed on Friday 10th September, although financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed. According to Broadband TV News, the possibility of the acquisition was first reported in July 2021.
Posta NET has a relatively small subscriber base, but by acquiring the company Telekom Srbija’s share of the cable market would overtake its main rival SBB, putting them at 54.6% and 46.7% respectively.
