Telemach Croatia closes acquisition of Optima stake

Croatian operator Telemach has closed its acquisition of a majority holding in local broadband provider Optima Telekom.

In July 2021, Telemach - a subsidiary of United Group - announced its intent to acquire stakes in Optima from Hrvatski Telekom (HT) and Zagrebacka banka which combined would amount to a 54.31% holding. TeleGeography notes that the purchase was cleared by Croatia’s antitrust regulator last month.

Telemach Croatia’s President Adrian Jezina said: “Through the synergy of knowledge and experience, we will bring a better perspective for Optima users, who will soon be provided with convergent packages of mobile and fixed telecommunications services and the latest generation TV services, with the best user experience. I am especially pleased that we are becoming an equal third integrated operator in the mobile and fixed network, which will encourage stronger competition, and the value of which will soon be felt by all users of telecommunications services in Croatia.”
