Africell reportedly sets date for Angola launch

After months of delay, Africell has finally set a date for its Angola debut next month to become the fourth operator in the country.

Novol Jornal reported the Africa-focused operator group will be launching its commercial service on April 7 in the capital of Luanda, according to sources speaking to the publication.

A launch event will be held at the Hotel Intercontinental on March 30 to announce the launch, reported Novol Jornal citing a VIP invitation it obtained.

The news follows Africell finalising a deal with market leader Unitel to share infrastructure which enabled the debuting player the technical ability to have a full launch.

Unitel was reportedly holding up negotiations by claiming compatibility issues.
