Now Telecom partners with US government for 5G

Now Telecom partnered with the US government to develop 5G technologies for its eventual deployment in the Philippines.

Manila Standard reported, the operator engaged with the US Trade and Development Agency for the development of the next-generation technology.

The US embassy said previously the partnership will aid Now Telecom on 5G deployment to “provide faster and more reliable digital services and increased broadband internet access for Filipinos countrywide.”

Now Telecom noted it was the first operator to introduce pre-5G broadband that showcased speeds of up to 2Gbps to enterprise clients.

The company will expand the service to residential and consumer markets through fixed-wireless access (FWA) and mobile devices

As part of its 5G strategy, Now Telecom also signed a memorandum of agreement with SBA Towers Philippines, a unit of SBA Communications Corporation to install equipment to launch telecoms and connectivity services.
