Claro Ecuador taps ZTE for fibre boost

Chinese equipment vendor ZTE announced it it will supply equipment to Claro Ecuador to extend its fibre network.

In a statement, ZTE detailed that Claro Ecuador has 330,000 fibre broadband customers and was looking to rapidly upgrade its fibre network. The operator will carry out its upgrade with ZTE’s Light ODN solution.

This was the first large-scale commercial use of ZTE’s latest solution in an overseas market. It offers a range of advanced features such as  splice-free connectivity, uneven optical splitting, and intelligent management.

Claro Ecuador had deployed its fibre-to-the-home network comprising 200,000 lines to Ecuador’s key regions. Going forward, Claro and ZTE will deepen their partnership through more extensive use of the Light ODN solution, in a bid to further enhance Clara’s network and efficiency.
