Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison announced that its project with Ericsson to consolidate its two nationwide circuit switch (CS) core networks has been completed ahead of schedule.
The project – which began in November 2022 and was completed in September 2023 – aimed to unify the separate CS core networks of Indosat and 3 Hutchison Indonesia, which officially merged into IOH in early 2022.
Indosat said that by transforming the CS core into a single Ericsson platform by pooling capability, it can reduce the risk of network disruptions or downtime caused by catastrophic events such as fibre or power cuts. Indosat also said the CS core project has resulted in lower opex by reducing its footprint 53%.
Meanwhile, Ericsson said the project has improved customer interactions by 33% and reduced call setup times by 495 milliseconds.
“Already the project is delivering strong efficiency and customer experience gains for Indosat and their end-users and we look forward to continuing to collaborate to significantly increase customer satisfaction,” said Krishna Patil, head of Ericsson Indonesia.
