Philippines-based operator Smart Communications announced a partnership with Google Cloud in a move to gain subscriber data insights to improve accessibility to digital services.
In a statement from Smart parent company PLDT, the collaboration makes Smart one of the first CSPs in the Asia-Pacific to adopt Google’s AI-powered Telecom Subscriber Insights solution, which intakes data from various data sources to provide contextual insight on subscriber propensity to consume services and present personalised services recommendations.
PLDT stated by tapping into data insights it will be able to have subscribers use their data more effectively, an example given was subscribers will be alerted to adjust resolution of their video. Subscribers will also be prompted to top up their prepaid plans through integrated local digital payment services, instead of physically topping up in-store.
Smart is also exploring to upgrade its chatbots though Google Cloud’s generative AI capabilities, with the aim to have more “natural-sounding” bots that will have access to data insights of subscribers.
“Our collaboration with Google Cloud to be the first communication services provider in Asia Pacific to adopt Telecom Subscriber Insights will empower us to better serve Filipino mobile users whenever and wherever they need us.
This is a huge step toward our commitment to always put our customers first and provide them with the best mobile experience powered by our superior network,” said Alex Caeg, Smart Communications SVP and Head of Consumer Business.
