Orange has promoted Hesham Mahran to CEO and managing director of its Egyptian operation, succeeding Yasser Shaker, who becomes chairman of Orange Egypt.
Mahran, currently chief business officer at Orange Egypt, will assume his new role on August 1. He brings over 25 years of experience in the telecoms and IT sectors, including 15 years at Orange Egypt in senior roles such as enterprise director and head of sales and marketing.
In a statement, Orange said Mahran has “played a pivotal role in shaping Orange Egypt’s enterprise strategy and developing integrated telecommunications solutions for the business segment.” He was also recognised for leading key initiatives to drive digital transformation and enhance critical infrastructure, including the development of the data centre for Egypt’s New Administrative Capital.
Shaker was recently appointed CEO of Orange Africa and Middle East and will assume the role on July 1. He replaces Jerome Henique, who took over Orange’s operations in its home market of France earlier this month.
Henique had led the operator’s Africa and Middle East business since 2022, during which time the unit made a strong contribution to the wider group’s performance.
