Smart Communications is encouraging its postpaid subscribers to adopt auto debit arrangements (ADA), as it looks to simplify bill payments and accelerate the shift towards digital channels.
Under the system, monthly bills are automatically charged to a customer’s registered debit or credit card on the due date, removing the need for manual payments or in-store visits.
Despite the availability of digital options, around 12% of Smart’s postpaid users still pay their bills in person, according to Brenda Dichoso, the operator’s head of customer experience. The move to promote ADA is aimed at improving convenience while reducing reliance on physical payment channels.
Smart said transactions are processed secure banking systems and card networks, with verification protocols in place to protect customer data and ensure payments are handled safely.
Beyond customer convenience, wider adoption of ADA is also expected to help Smart streamline its payment operations and improve efficiency, as the operator continues to enhance its digital services and customer experience.
Customers can enrol in ADA either through their bank or by visiting a Smart store, with the operator positioning the service as a more seamless and reliable way to stay on top of monthly bills.
