MTN reshuffles leadership with new people chief and market CEOs

MTN Group appointed Côte d’Ivoire CEO Mitwa Ng’ambi as its new Group Chief People and Culture Officer, succeeding Paul Norman, who is set to retire later this year after almost three decades with the company.

Ng’ambi will join MTN’s Group Executive Committee by September 1 as the operator continues to execute its Ambition 2030 strategy.

The appointment triggers a wider leadership reshuffle across the group. MTN Zambia CEO Abbad Reda will take over as CEO of MTN Côte d’Ivoire, while Larry Annetts has been appointed CEO of MTN Zambia. Both appointments are also effective by September 1.

Group CEO Ralph Mupita said the appointments demonstrate the depth of leadership talent within MTN and support the operator’s long-term succession planning efforts.

Ng’ambi brings more than 15 years of telecoms leadership experience across Africa, having previously held senior roles at MTN Cameroon, MTN Rwanda, AirtelTigo Ghana and Tigo Senegal. She has led business turnarounds, merger integrations and digital transformation programmes across multiple markets.

Reda has held leadership positions at MTN Zambia, MTN Afghanistan, MTN Liberia and MTN Ghana, where he built a reputation for improving operational performance and customer experience.

Annetts has spent nearly three decades within the MTN Group, including senior roles at MTN South Africa, MTN Nigeria and most recently a secondment to Irancell as chief marketing officer and chief commercial officer.
