Deutsche Telekom rebrands Romanian units

Two major Romanian operators are rebranding to reflect their parent company, Deutsche Telekom.

Mobile provider Cosmote Romania and fixed operator Romtelecom will now both provide services under the Telekom Romania brand, adopting Deutsche Telekom’s widely recognised ‘T’ logo.

Claudia Nemat, board member at Deutsche Telekom, said: “Adding Romania to the Magenta map is a natural step in the evolution of Deutsche Telekom’s footprint in Europe. It is in line with our strategy to offer the best customer experience driven by technology leadership.”

Cosmote had around 6 million connections at the end of H1 2014, putting it in third place in the Romanian mobile market.

Uniting the operators under a single brand will make it easier for Telekom Romania to offer packages covering mobile, fixed, broadband and TV services. In addition, the operator would be able to integrate its fixed and mobile retail outlets as well as unify its call centres, website and social media presence.
