A joint venture in the Chinese city of Xiamen will witness Taiwanese telco Chunghwa Telecom working with the Government of Xiamen to manage call centre services. Both Taiwanese and mainland Chinese organisations will be served...
Chunghwa Telecom will soon be co-operating with the Government of Xiamen City in South China in order to establish a joint venture to manage call centre services. The JV is expected to provide services for both Mainland Chinese and Taiwanese companies. Registered capital runs to US$4.4 million, including 49% from Chunghwa Telecom's subsidiary Chunghwa Investment Co, and the rest from Xiamen Info-Invest Co, which is controlled by the Xiamen government.
Chunghwa Telecom and the local government are predicted to appoint the new company's general manager and chairman, respectively. The Taiwanese operator believes that the Taiwanese-oriented call centre outsourcing business will grow quickly on the mainland, in line with the region's acceptance of more external investors in its finance and other industries.
In addition, the JV is classified as part of Chunghwa Telecom's broader expansion on the mainland, where Chunghwa has value-added 3G services, energy-saving equipment, car electronics, and exchange systems in its sights.
