Indonesia’s largest mobile operator has deployed a portal which will allow any of its 90 million subscribers to create their own SMS-based applications. Customers of Telkomsel – whether consumer or enterprise – are now able to provide applications and content based on their areas of interest, creating a large number of interest groups and inviting a wide spectrum of service providers who wish to deliver content on a channel that is accessible by all – SMS on the mobile phone.

Known as mChoice Soltura, the solution is powered by hSenid Mobile. Using a locally known web-based user interface, Gapura SMS, it provides customers with an easy to use set of pre-built wizards for the creation of alerts, voting, subscriptions, on-demand requests, etc.

Provided as a Cloud-based managed service, mChoice features rapid integration as well as scalable bandwidth resources. The proliferation of SMS is expected to drive adoption of the service, allowing for the widespread dissemination of user-generated apps.
“mChoice Soltura has brought to light our product philosophy of eliminating barriers for content creation and delivery and allowing anybody to create rich applications converging information, communication and entertainment.” says, Dinesh Saparamadu, CEO hSenid Mobile.
Telkomsel says, “We are now again on the verge of taking another giant leap into an uncontested VAS space in a competitive telecom market. We expect this to further strengthen the loyalty of our subscribers to our network with the numerous affiliations that the portal is to generate for them”.
