Oil India picks Juniper Networks for network upgrades
Oil India Limited, India’s second largest state-owned oil and gas company, has selectedJuniper Networks, which describes itself as a leader in secure, AI-driven networks, for upgrades to its data centre and campus networks.

The aim of the upgrades is to support Oil India's sustainability and digital transformation goals that will contribute to India's vision of energy independence, a goal the government wants to achieve by 2047.

Oil India needs to refresh its network infrastructure so that applications and services can be deployed and moved more seamlessly from one data centre to another. Building on a history of successful collaboration, Oil India chose Juniper to build scalable and resilient data centre and campus networks that will be key enablers of its this aim.

Juniper’sQFX5120 Series Switcheshave been deployed in the data centres at Oil India's headquarters in Duliajan, Assam, while thecombination of QFX5120 and QFX5110 Switchesserve as a resilient campus core. Oil India has also selected theEX4300 Series Switchesfor its campus distribution layer and adopted a Spine-Leaf architecture with EVPN-VXLAN for the campus core.

With theEVPN-VXLAN fabric, says Juniper, the Oil India team can efficiently build and connect its primary data centre, near disaster recovery data centre and campus core networks, in an agile, seamless and secure manner. The network also supports the use of business process automation tools, helping the OIl India team reduce workloads and achieve faster turnaround times.

In the oil and gas sector, the security of critical infrastructure is vital. To protect Oil India’s data centres, Juniper’sSRX4200 Service Gateways,Security Director, andJunos Space Network Directorhave been selected to configure and manage application security, intelligence and policies across its networks.

These new data centres also support Oil India’s use of autonomous drones and video analytics to detect leaks faster and protect against illegal activities. This will enable Oil India to address health, safety and environmental issues across 2,000 kilometres of pipeline quickly and effectively.
