ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) Philippines says it has successfully concluded the construction of a state-of-the-art 1.2MW data centre located in Makati City on the outskirts of Manila.
The new facility, a carrier-neutral hub, has a capacity for approximately 100 racks and is capable of accommodating loads ranging from 5kW to 12kW. Operations will begin this month.
Adhering to Tier III standards, the data centre employs an environment-friendly ventilation and air conditioning system. It also uses energy-efficient equipment, a rainwater catchment system, and solar panels for electricity generation. There is also a strong focus on security: multiple layers of protection ensure the facility’s integrity.
STT GDC Philippines is a joint venture between Globe, Ayala Corporation and Singapore's STT GDC, one of the world’s fastest-growing data centre providers. It has three other data centres in Metro Manila and one each in Cavite and Davao.
In June this year, we reported that the company had announced plans to expand its Makati, Cavite, and Quezon City data centres by a total of 5.2MW.
Along with the existing data centre in Quezon City, STT GDC Philippines is in the process of establishing the Fairview, Quezon City data centre campus, which is scheduled to be operational in early 2025. Anticipated to have a capacity of 124MW, the Fairview facility is planned to be the largest, most interconnected, sustainable, and carrier-neutral data centre campus in the country.
