Evolution DC Thailand, a joint venture between real estate developer Central Pattana and Evolution Data Centres, have announced a partnership with International Gateway Company (IGC) to provide fibre infrastructure for its domestic data centre project.
Evolution DC Thailand aims to construct sustainable hyperscale data centres that will support Thailand’s digital ecosystem, especially as compute-intensive technologies like AI become more prevalent in enterprises.
IGC, a subsidiary of neutral regional telecoms and network service provider ALT Telecom, provides wholesale bandwidth for both domestic and international traffic in Thailand. IGC’s infrastructure assets include 12,000 km of nationwide optical fibre, 15 cross-border interconnections with 24 operators surrounding Thailand, and access to five cable landing stations.
Evolution Data Centres CEO Darren Webb said the tie-up with IDG will help to create much-needed infrastructure to support the needs of Thailand’s digital population.
“IGC’s high-speed fibre connectivity is important for the data centre project as it will connect hyperscale and corporate customers to Thailand’s digital ecosystem and global networks,” he said in a statement.
“The network infrastructure of the data centre will seamlessly integrate with IGC’s main network, instilling confidence in connections both in Thailand and nearby regions..” added IGC’s CEO Pichit Satapattayanont.
Phoom Chirathivat, head of alternative investments at Central Pattana, said the partnership with IGC “will help to unlock the full potential of our data centre project Evolution DC Thailand and provide support for the development of robust digital infrastructure for the digital ecosystem in Thailand.”
