Submer aims to create a data centre ecosystem in India

Submer, a major name in data centre design and immersion cooling, has announced its strategic expansion into the Indian market, positioning the country as a central hub for manufacturing and serving the entire Asian region.

The move is described by the Spanish company as a significant step towards creating a robust, sustainable data centre ecosystem in India.

Submer explains that it will unlock potential by introducing its advanced, sustainable liquid cooling solutions that, it says, drastically reduce energy and water consumption, leading to a much lower environmental footprint and a significant decrease in operational costs.

As the company explains, India’s data centre market is not hampered by legacy cooling systems, presenting a unique opportunity to build future-ready, high-density facilities from the ground up.

Submer plans to enter into strategic partnerships with leading OEMs and ODMs to integrate its liquid cooling solutions directly into high-performance compute infrastructure.

The company also plans to establish its own manufacturing facility in India, transforming the nation into a production and export hub for Submer’s cooling systems for all of Asia.

The company adds that it will drive skill development programmes. It will also collaborate with leading skill development agencies and plans to explore memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with state governments to roll out these initiatives on a larger scale.

This isn’t the only Submer news relating to the Indian market in recent months. It follows July’s announcement that Submer and the Government of Madhya Pradesh have signed an MoU to jointly develop up to 1 gigawatt (GW) of liquid-cooled, AI-ready data centres in Madhya Pradesh.

By focusing on high-density, AI-ready data centres built around advanced liquid-cooling technologies – including immersion cooling, direct-to-chip and hybrid methods – Submer says the partnership will deliver ultra-efficient, low-emission facilities with zero water consumption, setting a new benchmark for sustainability in the industry.

As part of the agreement, Submer and the Government of Madhya Pradesh will work closely to define liquid-cooling design standards, foster local supply chains and support workforce development – all aimed at accelerating the deployment of sustainable, AI-ready data centre capacity across the state.
