Flexenclosure has delivered a new high-altitude data centre in Bogota, Colombia.
TigoUne will use the facility to integrate services such as cloud servers, applications, storage, backup and recovery, collocation, virtual desks, cyber-security, IoT, big data and analytics. It also plans to increase its offerings in the private, public and hybrid cloud environments following deployment of the new installation.
The Tier III facility measures 770sqm, twice the size of an earlier data centre Flexenclosure completed for Millicom in Paraguay and is the first of its kind in Colombia. Located 2,640 meters above sea level the high-altitude deployment places special demands on the design of the cooling and power equipment due to the lower air density, with systems needing to be de-rated accordingly.
The building, known as an ‘eCentre’, is custom-designed and prefabricated at Flexenclosure’s factory in Sweden before being shipped to Colombia for final assembly and commissioning.
”At TigoUne we are committed to delivering the best possible service to our customers who are at the core of all our operations, and our company’s new data centre in Colombia is proof of this.” commented Marcelo Cataldo, President of TigoUne.
“This is our first project in Colombia, our second eCentre deployment in Latin America and our third data centre project with Millicom” said David King, CEO, Flexenclosure. “We are delighted to have won the confidence of TigoUne to deliver this state-of-the art facility, and in doing so to expand our relationship with the Millicom group and reinforce our commitment to the Latin American market.”
