Eutelsat and Clear Blue link up for comms power support in Africa

Satellite operator Eutelsat Group has entered into a partnership with Clear Blue Technologies, a major name in smart energy solutions, aimed at the African market.

This collaboration, say the partners, will expand and improve connectivity solutions across Africa by launching state-of-the-art, power-efficient broadband services to support business and community Wi-Fi networks, even in the most energy-constrained environments.

Eutelsat will integrate Clear Blue’s energy technology capabilities into its GEO Konnect and LEO OneWeb platforms. The new solutions, say the partners, will offer reliable, sustainable, and scalable connectivity that empowers enterprises and transform communities across the continent.

The new offering will include a number of useful features such as smart load shedding, a way of ensuring consistent and high-speed critical connectivity, even in scenarios with limited power availability, to keep essential services operational.

Adaptive broadband quality will be another feature. This is described as adaptability that intelligently modulates broadband service in real time based on power levels, maximising performance and user experience.

Also part of the offering are intelligent power monitoring and savings, advanced systems that not only prevent power abuse but also drive energy efficiency, resulting in significant cost reductions for end users.

Miriam Tuerk, CEO of Clear Blue Technologies says: “Connecting the unconnected across Africa represents that largest global growth potential for connectivity services. Power and connectivity together have been shown to be critical to successful rollouts, and more importantly, ongoing service quality and reliability. Eutelsat’s innovative approach to combining smart power technology with energy management of its communications technology will deliver unparalleled service at a compelling price point within the market.”

This is the second time in a short period that Clear Blue has made headlines in Africa. In September we reported that Growth Energy had chosen Clear Blue as its OEM partner, and Clear Blue’s E-site-Micro power technology, along with its patented Illumience Smart Power management service, to power a network of telecom sites in Africa.
