Remote communities across Indonesia will soon enjoy the benefits of environmentall friendly mobile connectivity. The archipelagic nation’s second largest mobile operator, PT Indosat Tbk, has commissioned Altobridge to facilitate this goal with its lite-sites.
Deployment of the Altobridge lite-sites is already underway amongst previously unconnected communities in West Sulawesi. The low-cost, solar-powered Altobridge solution will bring voice, SMS and mobile data connectivity to communities and enterprises across Indonesia for the first time.
Steve Hobbs, Indosat Director and Chief Technology Officer, said, “Bringing mobile connectivity to thousands of unconnected communities in Indonesia is part of our vision to provide products and services, which enhance the quality of life of the communities we operate in.”
“We chose the Altobridge lite-site because it enables us to optimize our capital budget, while, operationally, it minimises our backhaul costs and, equally important, it is power efficient and ideally suited for solar”, he continued.
Aoife Sexton, President Remote Community Solutions at Altobridge, said, “We specialize in delivering a low capital cost and low operational cost wireless network solution for the world’s unconnected communities and enterprises. We are delighted to have been chosen by Indosat in this hugely important growth economy.”
