The Indonesian government’s energy security and greenhouse gas emission reduction goals will receive support from Tetra Tech, which has been awarded a $16.2 million, 3.5-year program with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
Indonesia seeks to significantly increase large-scale geothermal power development and other renewable energy initiatives by mobilising investment from multilateral development banks and the private sector.
Under this new program, Tetra Tech will help the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources expand its domestic energy supply in order to provide electrical coverage to 90% of its population by 2025.
This expansion will be achieved by fostering renewable energy investment and policy improvements. Tetra Tech will also help the government of Indonesia achieve its GHG emissions reduction target of 26% under business-as-usual and 41% with assistance by 2020, through GHG emissions reductions in the energy and transportation sectors.
