Brazilian telecom operator Mhnet Telecom has finalized negotiations for the acquisition of Creral Telecom, located in the Alto Uruguay region, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
As a result, the regional operator's 13,000 customers will be part of the Mhnet portfolio, which will add operations in 66 cities in Rio Grande do Sul, with the 41 municipalities that were served by Creral.
Mhnet Telecom is now present in 150 cities and accumulates 25 thousand km of optical fiber backbone.
Mhnet recently purchased three regional ISPs -Optinet, Frosinet, and GW Telecom - and expanded its presence. All its recent investment was concentrated in the South and Southeast regions and the purchase of Creral is the 12th development carried out in a 2-year interval.
According to Patrick Canton, CEO of Mhnet, the next expansion of service in the state is to Caxias do Sul, in an organic operation. “We have a strong market share presence in Rio Grande do Sul and it continues to be a state with a lot of potential for further growth. In Erechim, for example, we have 40% of the telecommunications market. Vacaria is close behind, with Mhnet dominating 35% of the municipality”, he said.
Mhnet Telecom was founded in 2002 in the city of Maravilha (SC), and is now present in more than 150 cities, reaching more than 265,000 customers in Santa Catarina, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul. With the expectation of closing the year with 300 thousand customers, the company maintains a high growth rate, he said.
