Maxis teams with Public Bank to help Malaysian SMEs go digital

Malaysian telco Maxis revealed on Friday that it has formalised its collaboration with Public Bank to accelerate digital adoption among Malaysia’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Maxis said it signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Public Bank earlier this month, under which both companies will embark on a joint awareness programme to promote digitalisation among SMEs via physical and online activities, and help them access digital solutions.

Under the MoU, Maxis Business will serve as the official telco and digital partner of Public Bank’s PB enterprise Digital SME Assist Programme. Maxis said this will enable Public Bank’s SME customers to access Maxis’ connectivity and digital solutions, mobile and fixed connectivity, payments, e-commerce, cloud and cybersecurity.

“We want to make it easy for SMEs to digitalise, so they can focus on growing their business,” said Maxis CEO Goh Seow Eng in a statement.

The programme also aims to provide SMEs with financial assistance to implement digital solutions. As part of the partnership, Maxis Business will assist Public Bank’s SME customers to apply for the Geran Digital PMKS Madani digitalisation grant scheme by the Malaysian Government to implement digital solutions. Public Bank will also offer financing solutions for further financial support.

“We believe that by combining our financial expertise with Maxis’ technological prowess, we can make a meaningful impact on the digital transformation of Malaysian SMEs, enabling them to thrive and contribute to the nation’s economic growth,” said Public Bank’s MD and CEO Tan Sri Tay Ah Lek.
