Nokia announced on Thursday that it’s signed a deal with Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) to upgrade its legacy SDH transport system in Ho Chi Minh City with IP/MPLS.
Under the deal, Nokia will provide an IP/MPLS transmission system for VATM’s Ho Chi Minh City’s Air Traffic Control Center (ATCC) with advanced analytics, which it says will simplify operations and improve network performance.
Nokia said the new transport network will feature increased flexibility and programmability to support mission-critical applications that enhance overall air traffic management efficiency and safety, as well as better security features that can evolve over time.
Ho Sy Tung, deputy general director at VATM, said the new transport network will support new-age applications required for operating highly reliable services to serve rapidly growing air traffic in Vietnam.
“Air traffic networks need to be exceptionally secure and reliable at all times to ensure the highest standards of safety are met,” he said in a statement. “We are impressed by the quality and performance of Nokia’s IP/MPLS networking solution and are looking forward to the successful completion of this crucial initiative in the coming year.”
The newly upgraded transport network will be operational in the second quarter of 2025.
