Zain KSA taps Cisco to develop AI infrastructure and GPUaaS

Zain KSA says it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cisco to develop AI infrastructure and GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) for the Saudi Arabian market.

Under the MoU signed on Sunday, Zain KSA will leverage Cisco’s end-to-end infrastructure solutions to securely build and scale AI workloads, with the eventual aim of supporting the telco’s move into the GPUaaS space.

Zain KSA said the initiative aims to create new solutions and commercial models to enable customers across various sectors to adopt AI solutions easily.

The MoU also includes an upskilling component under which Zain and Cisco will explore opportunities for training programs to upskill local talent.

“These efforts aim to empower all stakeholders, including government entities, businesses, and individuals, to harness the boundless potential of AI in support of national goals,” said Fahad Sahmi Al Sahmah, Zain KSA’s VP of B2B sales, in a statement.

Zayan Sadek, service providers MD at Cisco Middle East, Türkiye and Africa, added that the initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals by driving digital transformation and positioning the country as a global digital innovation hub, particularly in the AI space.

“We aim to unlock new possibilities to empower businesses to thrive in the AI era and position Saudi Arabia as a global hub for advanced technologies,” Sadek said.
