PLDT and Lin Man to deploy smart meters across Philippines

PLDT Enterprise said on Thursday it is partnering with local energy solutions provider Lin Man Power Technology to deploy cellular smart meters across the Philippines.

Under the initiative, Lin Man is implementing electric smart meters equipped with Smart IoT SIMs that will connect to Smart Communications’ mobile network.

PLDT Enterprise said the mobile-connected smart meters are expected to improve operational efficiency, reduce system losses, and provide more accurate billing. For customers, this translates to greater transparency, improved service reliability, and enhanced convenience.

PLDT Enterprise also said it’s supporting the initiative to help modernise the utilities sector so that communities can benefit from more efficient and reliable power services.

“By leveraging Smart’s extensive network coverage and PLDT Enterprise’s digital solutions, we are helping enable the deployment of smart metering technologies that support transparency, efficiency, and long-term sustainability in the utilities sector,” said Jay Lagdameo, VP and head of enterprise revenue at PLDT Enterprise, in a statement.

Lin Man chair Jovita Yeo added that by replacing traditional meters with smart technology, power companies are better equipped to deliver transparent and dependable power services, benefiting both providers and consumers through improved efficiency and data-driven operations.
