Orange Egypt has partnered with Egyptian online gold trading platform mnGm to launch what they say is the country’s first digital platform for gold trading services using mobile wallets.
Officially launched on Thursday, the digital gold trading service enables Orange Cash Wallet customers to buy and sell gold directly. Once customers register for the service through the My Orange app, they can start trading gold by choosing the desired gold amount, confirming the transaction via SMS, and finalising payment instantly through their wallet.
Orange Egypt said customers can invest with as little as EGP5.00 (around US$0.10), but those who buy gold worth EGP500 or more in their first month on the platform are eligible for cashback rewards of up to EGP100, which can be redeemed for bill payments, top-ups, or bundle renewals,
Orange Egypt said the new service aligns with the global trend of fractional gold investment and digital payments, which provide flexible and secure solutions for trading gold in small amounts. By integrating the service into Orange Cash Wallet, Orange Egypt offers a trusted and user-friendly platform that opens the door to wider participation in the digital gold economy, said the telco’s chief consumer business officer Ahmed El-Abd.
“With the launch of Egypt’s first digital gold trading platform, we are redefining the role of mobile wallets,” he said in a statement. “They are no longer limited to payments and transfers but have evolved into comprehensive financial platforms that enable customers to manage, grow, and diversify their resources.”
