MTN Group Fintech has partnered with Ant International to modernise its mobile money platform, with the first deployment expected in Nigeria next quarter.
The partnership will introduce a new super-app platform for MoMo, designed to improve the user experience, strengthen digital inclusion and expand access to financial, commerce and lifestyle services.
MTN said Ant International’s technology will help enhance ecosystem integration through a mini-app platform, while also improving fraud prevention, security and customer engagement features for both consumers and merchants.
Group CEO Ralph Mupita said the partnership supports MTN’s ambition to lead digital solutions across Africa by combining scale, technology and global partnerships to deliver a more seamless and secure MoMo experience.
The operator expects the upgraded platform to enable faster transactions, greater reliability and deeper integration between financial and commerce services within a single digital ecosystem.
MTN Group Fintech CEO Serigne Dioum described the agreement as an important milestone in the company’s “One Big Tech” strategy, which aims to expand digital financial services across Africa.
The move comes as MTN continues to grow its fintech business, with Sub-Saharan Africa remaining the world’s largest mobile money market. The operator said the partnership will help position MoMo for the next phase of growth while supporting financial inclusion and economic participation across its markets.
