Elisa claims Estonia’s first 5G launch with FWA offering

Elisa Estonia has confirmed the launch for fixed wireless access 5G services over its recently obtained 3.5GHz spectrum.

As reported by TeleGeography, the operator has not yet launched mobile 5G services, but plans to do so by Q4 2022. Elisa has stated its goal of extending its 5G mobile coverage to half of the country’s population by the end of the year.

Elisa won Estonia’s first 3.5GHz licence last month. An additional two permits will be put to auction, with stiff competition expected as Bite Group, Telia and Tele2 vie to obtain them.
