Thai broadband provider Interlink Telecom is implementing Alcatel-Lucent’s portfolio of Agile Optical Networking solutions across its network.
Interlink Telecom has installed its network along railways and major road routes across the country, connecting to neighbouring Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia and Malaysia.
Alcatel-Lucent’s DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing) solution with the 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) platform integrated with Wavelength Tracker technology will provide Interlink Telecom with an integrated view across its network. This will make it easier to monitor performance and identify problem areas in order to maintain its reputation for high reliability as it increases network speeds and capacity. The ability to offer up to 100 gigabits-per-second (100G) will enable the company to support the growing data demands of customers, including mobile operators, enterprises, ISPs, banks and governments.
Alcatel-Lucent’s solution is being deployed during Phase I of the project being launched this month, in 42 stations covering Thailand’s eastern and southern regions, including the busy stations of Bangkok and Phuket.
Sebastien Laurent, President and Managing Director, Alcatel-Lucent (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said: “With Alcatel-Lucent DWDM, our customers can achieve the lowest cost per bit transmission in the market, since our deployed solutions are ready to evolve to 200G, 400G and 1Tbps, by software upgrade only. We are providing a platform that is flexible enough to help the company expand to 200G capacity as soon as required since it is already available.”
