Tanzanian carrier Six Telecoms has selected Telarix iXLink systems to conduct business with other carriers across the globe. The announcement comes not only within the context of growing interconnection business for Six Telecoms but also at the opening of the recent Capacity Africa conference.

Six Telecoms, a provider of telecommunications services in Tanzania, has selected the Telarix iXTools ASP service to optimise its growing global interconnect business. Six Telecoms will leverage Telarix's hosted solution for next generation routing, buy and sell-side agreement management, and accurate dial code management. The announcement was made at opening of the Capacity Africa conference.

Telarix's iXTools ASP is a hosted interconnect business optimisation and settlement service which is intended to enable service providers to reduce costs and increase profitability across their interconnect networks. By analysing both revenue and cost information, iXTools ASP provides the real-time intelligence on all traffic moving across a carrier's network so as to optimise network routing, accurately track settlement charges and enable partner invoice reconciliation.

As a hosted service, iXTools ASP is supported by high-availability infrastructure. Telarix manages the service on dedicated servers at a state-of-the-art data centre and provides day-to-day management of the equipment, operating environment, and application software. iXTools ASP provides 24x7 monitoring and management of the service and offers firewall and security features to ensure protection of critical data.

In addition, Six Telecoms has joined iXLink, the global business information exchange for the telecom industry. Founded in conjunction with some of the world's largest carriers as a neutral business information exchange service for the telecom industry, iXLink provides a platform that enables service providers to quickly and efficiently access and share business documents among their trading partners. More than 200 carriers worldwide are now using iXLink to automatically exchange business information with other service providers.

Six Telecoms Company Limited was founded in 2004 to be a front-runner in Tanzanian telecoms after liberalisation and the break-up of the TTCL Monopoly. it was licensed for international network facilities and services and national and international application services. Six Telecoms currently has over 50% market share of international inbound traffic and a growing market share of outbound traffic from Tanzania. It also has infrastructure in Dar es Salaam that acts as a transit and connectivity hub for local and regional partner operators as well as hubs in London and New York. Both of these have dedicated fibre connectivity to Intelsat earth station for connectivity via satellite to Tanzania.
