At MWC25, the prpl Foundation, the open-source organisation dedicated to transforming the software architecture of home gateways, will highlight its innovative platform and the collaborative efforts of its members in advancing home connectivity and home services and solutions.
Among the prominent members showcasing their advances is Bitdefender, which will demo in the Executive Meeting Room No. 7B22Ex, Hall 7, the seamless deployment, execution, and capabilities of the Bitdefender IoT Security Agent on a router running prplOS.
This integration, just like Bitdefender’s work on new capabilities that allow a more efficient functioning of security containers within prpl (fast path packet interception API, VPN management, DNS flow management, etc), exemplifies the potential of prpl’s open-source framework to enhance edge computing capabilities for home gateways and security for end users.
SoftAtHome, an early member of the prpl Foundation, is showcasing its deployment with Orange Jordan, the first of its kind using prpl (as we reported in January). Demonstrations at Booth 5.i59, Hall 5 will further highlight how a home gateway prpl-based application store ushers in a new world of operator and third-party services.
WNC, which has been involved with the Foundation since 2019, has built two supporting reference platforms, and is working closely with Tier 1 service providers in launching prplOS. Additionally, WNC will be demonstrating, at its booth Hall 2 Stand 2F2, a consumer-level gateway running prplOS with a number of value-added services. These value-added services will showcase how prplOS can help enhance subscriber QoE.
A showcase of its latest advancements in smart home gateways at Booth #3E10 is expected from Qualcomm Technologies; Sreekanth Natarajan, Senior Director of Technology at Qualcomm Technologies is a prplFoundation board member. Another member, Arcadyan, is showcasing its prpl Excellence across Wi-Fi 7, 5G FWA and Broadband solutions at, Hall 2.1, Stand 2.1C37Ex.
Other prpl members exhibiting at MWC 2025 including MaxLinear (Hall 2 – 2L8MR and 2L10MR), Actiontec (Hall 7Stand 7B30Ex), Globalogic (Meeting room 3A21Ex, hall 3) and Nagravision – Kudelski IoT (Meeting room 7G97MR).
