Open Systems facilitates Ecuador fixed-line integration

Ecuador’s Corporación Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CNT) has selected Open Systems’ Open.flexIS solution to consolidate its back office. The project will take place over the course of 180 days.

Open Systems have installed the solution and provided training necessary to support the new integrated management, covering such subjects as: the network inventory; assignment & maintenance of resources; work orders; invoicing to customers & operators; sales; and customer care processes.

CNT was formed in 2008 by a merger of two fixed-line providers, Andinatel and Pacifictel. The two companies provided services in Quito and Guayaquil respectively.

CNT’s decision to deploy Open Systems’ solution was in part prompted by the successful support that they provided to Andinatel – an Open.flexIS customer since 2000 – after an Ecuadorian Government mandate ruled that service providers must mail all invoices directly to end users’ homes. Following the merger, Pacifictel’s customers are now being integrated to Open.flexIS.

Hernando Parrott, Open Systems’ Vice-President of Business Development for Latin America, commented: “The higher degree of integration of Open.flexIS, in addition to the know-how obtained through the different successful installations carried out in the Latin American telecommunications sector, provided Andinatel, and now CNT, with the necessary tools for the control of the inventory of the different elements of its telephony network, to standardize the accounts receivable collection processes and to control and classify the long distance services facilitating decisions related with third party operators’ compensation.”

Currently, CNT provides 90% of the fixed-line market in Ecuador.
