Major Indonesian operator deploys new OSS solutions

One of Indonesia’s largest operators is continuing the consolidation of their network onto one management platform in order to offer improved CDMA Fixed Mobile services to its 16 million subscribers.

The Flexi Division of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (TELKOM) has deployed OSS solutions from the provider Clarity, which it first commissioned in 2006 to provide OSS capabilities for its Switching, Transmission and Data domains, followed by the migration of Metro-E networks onto the application.

The latest deployment enables Fulfilment and Assurance capabilities for the Flexi Division, which offers services in over 370 Indonesian cities. The solution provides:

  • Alarm management across a multi-vendor network
  • Fault and trouble ticket management
  • Network KPI monitoring and reporting
  • Auto discovery of network additions, moves and deletions
  • Inventory process automation

By deploying Clarity’s OSS, Flexi was able to implement an umbrella network management solution, allowing the division to configure, view and manage its network status holistically through advanced alarm control and correlation. This grants it the ability to restore services by efficiently identifying the root-cause of problems and degraded services.

Storing consolidated information in a single system allows Flexi to simplify the resolution of problems that span multiple technologies, vendors or management sectors. Flexi have already been able to use this improved efficiency to consolidate skill sets across their training, administration, maintenance and development domains.

“We needed a flexible and highly scalable OSS, capable of keeping pace with our rapidly expanding subscriber base whilst also supporting lean operations”, commented Indra Utoyo, Director of IT Service and Solution (CIO) at TELKOM. “With a single system to manage operations it is faster to identify issues and ensure they have minimal business impact. It will also reduce the costs of our ongoing operations.”
