Second stage of OSS project underway for Filipino operator

A leading operator in the Philippines has commenced the second phase of its upgrade to unified OSS, allowing it to deploy and assure the quality of next generation networks and services. Globe Telecom has commissioned Clarity to simplify its operations, with the latest project comprising of network discovery, alarms, performance and provisioning capabilities for the operator’s next generation network, which includes HSPA+ and LTE networks.

Globe has already deployed the Clarity OSS as part of its integrated Network Operations Centre (NOC) to manage its wireless and fixed networks, and provide a superior customer experience for its products and services. The operator is now undertaking a transformational upgrade of its mobile and fixed core, transmission, facilities and wireless networks. The project includes enhancements and configuration for new network models and business processes.

An automated network discovery and verification processes will be used to ensure that network inventory records have a very high degree of accuracy, allowing Globe to make the enhanced network available for their customers use. Business process improvements are also being implemented to improve provisioning timeframes, monitor network performance and reinforce compliance to Service Level Agreements.

Robert Tan, Chief Technology Adviser at Globe, said: “As we move towards market differentiation and dealing with customers in a more personalised manner, we need to have accurate network inventory so we can proactively track network performance and optimise our investment for better customer experience.”

Jon Newbery, Chief Executive Officer at Clarity, added: “Worldwide, we are seeing data usage growing at a phenomenal rate; however revenue growth from this uptake is growing at a much slower rate. Industry leading operators are investing strategically in systems that help them maximise revenue from their new networks. By deploying networks faster, revenue is generated earlier, and by providing superior service quality, operators can build an enviable level of customer loyalty.”
