Angolan operator Unitel has selected network performance solutions provider Mycom for an end-to-end mobile network and service performance management solution.
Unitel is the leading mobile network operator in Angola with 7 million subscribers, and Mycom’s NIMS-PrOptima solution will be used to provide network performance management end-to-end across its mobile network. The system will cater for more than 1,500 multi-technology cell sites (GSM, UMTS and LTE RAN), CS/PS Core network and WDM/SDH/PDH Transmission network elements.
The project was initiated after the incumbent network performance management solution was unable to consistently meet Unitel’s functional and service requirements on the live network.
“Our experience was that the reality of supporting innovative products and services with multiple equipment vendors across multiple domains in a complex and ever-changing network is not a trivial challenge,” said Amilcar Safeca, Deputy CEO at Unitel, “We required a reliable, unified network performance management system with converged data, reporting and analytics across all domains in our mobile network.”
Mycom’s NIMS-PrOptima is a converged (Fixed/IP/Mobile) Service Assurance solution with out-of-the-box support for multiple technologies, domains and equipment vendors across access, backhaul, core and service networks. It processes large volumes of performance, configuration and services data in near real-time, has advanced correlation, analysis, reporting and visualization modules, and is highly flexible via automation, workflow and configuration capabilities.
