Kazakhstan and Starlink partner to connect rural schools

A preliminary agreement with Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation & Aerospace will see Starlink provide high speed internet access to around 2000 rural schools across the country.

The agreement was reached following a meet between SpaceX VP for Starlink Lauren Dreyer and the Ministry’s chief Bagdat Musin at the Digital Bridge forum event, with local outlet Profit.kz reporting that the project is slated to commence within six months.

Profit.kz reported that Musin is negotiating the pricing for Starlink’s service, and has floated a monthly fee of US$200 per connection, although more details are expected within the coming weeks. CommsUpdate reports that Starlink is currently conducting pilots in the Almaty region.
