Gilat Satcom expands its fibre network with the new PoP in Tanzania

Gilat Satcom has established a new Point of Presence (PoP) for its East African broadband network in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

The PoP is connected to both the EASSy and SEACOM undersea cables which enable Gilat Satcom to provide advanced services such as MPLS with full redundancy.

The firm has a growing range of fibre routes in coastal and landlocked Africa and provides telcos, ISPs, Governments and businesses with fast and reliable broadband connectivity at a competitive price. Gilat Satcom is amongst the first companies in Africa to offer both non-stop East to West coast-to-coast and international connectivity. Its MPLS network connects to both the WACS, EASSy and SEACOM undersea cables via fibre local loops across Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Namibia and Mozambique.

In addition, Gilat Satcom’s pan-Africa satellite footprint allows its MPLS network to reach the most remote areas of the continent.

The new PoP was established to answer growing demand from current and new customers in East Africa to improve domestic and international broadband connectivity

Dan Zajicek, CEO of Gilat Satcom, said “We continue to invest heavily in expanding our operations in Africa on fibre to provide complete MPLS services with full redundancy.”
