Advantech's latest feature is claimed to enable the reconfiguring of transmission parameters without any interruption to the data flow (known as Adaptive Coding and Modulation, or ACM). This in turn allows a communication link to operate at maximum throughput - while enjoying prime transmission conditions - but to switch invisibly to slower and more robust links as conditions deteriorate (during heavy rainfall, for example).
Previously, satellite communication system designers have always had to configure their solutions for worst-case scenarios. Additionally, Advantech can offer the new product on several independent streams, multiplexed through a single satellite carrier. This enables the same (or different) content to be targeted at consumers with different quality requirements and reception characteristics, such as those at the centre as distinct from the edge of a satellite footprint.
* Advantech AMT equipment is used by both commercial and government customers to implement multimedia broadcast and telecommunication network systems (the company provides global product support expertise). The main products designed and manufactured by Advantech AMT include Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPA), Block-Up Converters (BUCS), antenna tracking control systems, and satellite terminals.
