Airtel bought a 10 per cent stake in AI cloud telephony start-up Wayebo, as part of plans to upgrade its enterprise cloud offering.
The investment was made under the operator’s Airtel Startup Accelerator Program, Wayebo is the project’s fifth addition. Wayebo build tools for the enterprise cloud telephony segment leveraging deep AI-based analytics, which will be used to serve Airtel’s 2,5000 large enterprise customers.
Pointing to IDC data, the company predicts the public cloud services market in India will reach $7.1 billion by 2024, and it is “seeing rapid growth as businesses move processes to cloud based platforms.”
Adarsh Nair, Bharti Airtel chief product officer said: “Cloud technologies are transforming the way businesses serve and delight their customers. We are thrilled to on-board Waybeo to our Startup Accelerator program and provide them a platform to scale up their technologies as part of Airtel’s world-class cloud services ecosystem.”
Krishnan R V, Waybeo CEO added: “We are really focused on enterprise adoption for our call intelligence tools. Most of the enterprises drive hundreds of thousands of phone calls a month. There is no analytics, no automation, and no means to optimize the customer experience. We look at strategic investment from Airtel as an opportunity to scale our technology and enterprise reach.”
