Wingu Africa brings WCX cloud platform to Ethiopia

East African neutral data centre operator Wingu Africa launched its new Wingu Cloud Exchange (WCX) in Ethiopia on Tuesday, offering a private cloud platform tailored specifically for local businesses.

Wingu’s WCX – which was first launched in Tanzania in November last year – offers a full range of services, including compute, storage, Kubernetes container management and security, enabling businesses to deploy, manage, and secure applications.

WCX also integrates seamlessly with existing on-premises systems and complements global providers such as Azure and AWS, offering customers flexible hybrid options tailored to their operational requirements.

Wingu said WCX enables enterprises in Ethiopia to scale operations on demand, pay predictable prices in local currency, and avoid the uncertainties of foreign exchange or hidden fees. The platform promises businesses faster access to services, improved operational efficiency, and reliable support through locally optimised infrastructure, as well as easier compliance with local data sovereignty regulations.

“We are delivering secure, compliant, and scalable cloud solutions built specifically for local needs,” said Demos Kyriacou, deputy CEO, COO and co-founder of Wingu Africa, in a statement. “With this platform, we are setting a new standard for digital infrastructure in the region and accelerating Ethiopia’s transformation into a digitally enabled economy.”
