Google considers Pixel shift to India

Google is reportedly searching for suppliers in India to build its Pixel smartphone range as the US company pivots away from manufacturing in China.

The US technology giant follows Apple in its move to diversify away from China and has begun talks with Lava International, Dixon Technologies, and Foxconn’s Indian subsidiary Bharat FIH, according to sources speaking to Bloomberg. The sources said there is no guarantee a deal will close.

It was reported last year Apple had pivoted some of its manufacturing away from China to Vietnam and India for the construction of its latest range of devices, with the long-term view of being less reliant on China as a manufacturing hub.
